Lovely hotel but not so friendly staff

When we arrived at the hotel the concierge was very nice and very helpful taking us to our rooms. We were told we did not have breakfast included in the stay so this had to be added to the room if we decided to have it. This was 20 euros per person per day. The next morning we went down for breakfast which was definitely not worth 20 euros. The breakfast staff were very abrupt and never cracked a smile. We weren’t told where we could sit so we found a table in a quieter area that wasn’t as hot. The staff huffed and made a comment about where we were sitting and actually put a chair in the walkway to stop people coming in, which we could have easily tripped over and had to physically move back to get to our table. The serving staff always seemed to have an attitude and were not very polite. It costs nothing to be polite to and helpful to guests, and this has put us off from ever returning again. Our coffee machine in our room was also broken and we were told they would fix this. This never happened so we had to buy our own coffee and milk for the room. Overall the rooms were lovely and very clean, it was an excellent location but the communication from the staff was off putting and not what we would expect from a hotel of this standard.

The hotel is perfectly place in the square opposite the clock in the old town the room we had was lovely although at the front overlooking the square so a little noisy at night but with window shut and aircon on ok .There is a roof top bar and a downstairs bar associated with hotel but very busy peak time (queue to get in ) and being a resident holds no preference and staff in downstairs bar quite rude we went down on arrival to look around and was told to go and also got funny when tried to photograph the well .but hey ho plenty of much nicer places to eat and drink .Back to the hotel the staff where very helpful and kind check out was at 12.00 and will look after luggage we had a lovely stay would recommend but probably mid week the square and surrounding areas are packed (tho it was Easter) tip eat and drink away from the square a lot cheaper taxi to airport was £13.00

I have to agree with the comment by Marty M and others as we are currently in Prague. we asked to split the bill, the bill was scrunched up in front of us and we were told rudely to go to the bar. A tip was added which we refused to pay due to his rudeness and that it was optional. He then said we must be English which we are not. He then tried to make us feel guilty by saying that the waiters would not get a tip missing the point that this was because of the way we had been treated by him. The food wasn't even that good and just about enough to feed a child!!!!! Seems to be that nothing has changed even though comments have been added by the restaurant to kther posts. Rude! We wished we'd read the reviews first!

The food (vegetarian) was goood. The person taking the order was courteous. While the person at the entry was a complete pain and made sure we felt he was racist and that he was bork on the wrong side of humanity. The mulled wine was amazing and the vibe too. But the entry man...truelly seemed to be a rude and agrogant man who can make his guest feel totally unwelcomed and one could go back just because he has been very uptight .Avoid him. Rest enjoy!! The vibe of the place is fabulous, right in the centre of the historic square of prague. Our waiter Peter was good and made sure we knew what was for us om the menu and what wasn't.

Demanded Tipping

Awful waiter demanded Tipping from us as a couple. Even though it says on the bill " tip not included" therefore you DO NOT have to do a tip in Prague. But the waiter just ignored us saying we won't be tipping and stayed there with card machine. Do not go here if you're a tourist I can guarantee you will be forced to tip whether you want to or not there service wasn't even good for a tip anyway? I'd recommend going to "U Glaubicu " or " Restaurance White Hart" very good ones near and in Old Town. DONT GO HERE They are a bunch of clowns
